Cafe Retreat at Serenity

Café Retreat sits on the second floor beneath the stone-carved arches of the old church, looking over the historical sites of the castle and Library ( once school of Charles Darwin). The perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of town, for light Lunches, teas or coffee.

The homemade fayre is a welcome change to the offerings normally found on the High steet. Ethical teas and coffee blended locally, together with homemade cakes and treats many of which are gluten free and/or vegetarian. We have just launched an extensive gluten free menu consisting of both savoury and sweet dishes. Baguettes, Paninis, Jacket Potatoes, Wraps and Sandwiches are available together with dishes for the larger appetite.

Enjoy all of this seated at a spacious oak table or on a leather sofa reading one of the extensive collection of uplifting, inspirational books chosen especially with ‘you in mind’.

Café Retreat is a favourite for nursing mothers and is proud to offer adequate space for push chairs and disabled access. Group bookings and outside buffets available.
